The Weinviertel Festival will take place for the first time from August 2 to 23, 2020. At two venues, namely in Poysdorf in the Austrian Weinviertel and in Mikulov, right on the border in the Czech part of the Weinviertel, director Peter Svensson, who has a very personal relationship with this region due to his family roots, presents the audience with the finest opera experiences.

The Weinviertel Festival is the only open-air summer festival in the world that is entirely devoted to Richard Wagner's work. They offer artistically top-class productions with stars from the Wagner world at affordable prices. The aim of the festival is to de-ideologise the work of the great composer and universal genius through attractive, exciting and entertaining productions, and to introduce children and opera beginners to his music.

The Weinviertel Festival is conceived as a cross-border cooperation between the Czech Republic, Austria and Slovakia and sees itself as a festival without borders.

Peter Svensson thanks all those involved who, despite the planning uncertainty due to the Corona situation, have worked very flexibly and ideally on the project over the past weeks and months and thus contributed to its success.

The current exceptional situation will of course continue to be constantly monitored and the festival will take place under the fulfillment of all conditions, in the special sense of the health of the audience and all employees.
